BIG CHANGES AHEAD FOR COAL CREEK!
Water System Upgrades Road Upgrades Coal Creek Birthday Party Spring Clean Up
Water System Upgrades:
This spring/summer Town of Coal Creek is upgrading the water distribution system. These major improvements and enhancements are long overdue. No upgrades have been done to the system since 1982. Also, there are new regulations that the Town must comply with. Every water meter will be replaced with a new meter. The new meters will be radio read which means they will be read electronically by a laptop as the maintenance person drives down each street. Many meters which are in residential yards will be moved to the town’s right-of-way, to enable maintenance on meters much easier. New water lines will be extended down Flintridge and Chase. This system is an economical time saver for the Town both in billing and reading the meters. Construction may mean some inconveniences for a short time, so please be patient and slow down around construction areas. This project is slated to begin in late June or July and will be complete in approximately 90 days.
Street maintenance funding is a fiscal challenge. Fifty seven percent of Colorado cities and towns have unfunded major street repair or expansion projects. Fremont County, the surrounding towns, and the oil companies have worked together for over two years to upgrade roads. We have been awarded a Mineral Impact Grant for our first phase of a county/municipal road project.
The roads being upgraded in this cycle are County Road 100 from Hwy 67 through Coal Creek north to County Road 84A and onto County Road 84 proceeding south approximately 3 miles. This upgrade means that from the end of February until mid May the roads will return to gravel, but this inconvenience is worth the new roads that will be paved in May. We are also planning to repave Main Street south from the four way stop to the park. Please slow down during construction and thank you for being patient while we are working!

We will also have town-wide garage sales, which will be advertised in the Daily Record and shopper. Holcim is planning to accept tires on a specific date in April.
